The World Religions Conference, an annual multi-faith conference, is held in Canadian cities every year. Its origins date back to 1981, when the first conference was held in Brantford Ontario. It is Canada's largest multifaith gathering. It encourages dialogue between people of different faiths.
Interreligious dialogue
The Boston College Coloquia on InterreligiousDialogue will bring together scholars across the globe and different religions to explore fundamental questions in the field. Michael J. Puett is the Walter C. Klein professor of Chinese History at Harvard University. This year, he will speak on how Chinese religions may help Western rituals. Anantanand Rambachan will be speaking on the ways that Hinduism can learn from Christian social thinking. He is also a Stonehill College professor of Hindu Studies.
Animism
Animism is one of the many world religions that have a profound influence on our lives. It is often described as an esoteric religion, but it is also a practical religion. People use various practices to achieve their goals, such as offering prayers for healing or protection from evil.
Totemism
Totemism refers to a type of religion where members of a group project their religious symbols and values onto sacred objects. Durkheim says that religion functions in a similar fashion. Rituals are used to create a collective consciousness. It is a shared set and thought of values, beliefs, and religious framework.
Hinduism
Recent conference in Utah featured a panel about Hinduism. The conference had two goals: to raise awareness and present new ideas to the public about religion in modern times. Sarma, while the conference was primarily focused on religion, also stressed the importance understanding Hindu belief and practice in the context Western faith traditions.
Islam
The Islam at the world religions conference, a major event, will bring together representatives from many different religions. It will feature presentations by some of the most respected scholars of Islam in the United States. A wide range of speakers will be attending the conference, including those from different backgrounds within the Muslim community. Eight of the fourteen speakers will include women, and two African-Americans. The presentations will follow the same format as TED Talks. This format is to make the presentations accessible and more relevant to a broad audience.
Judaism
Judaism used to be considered a minority faith. However, there are many Jews who live in the United States. It seeks to build a just society by applying its teachings to commerce, industry, social order and business. It also aims at eliminating poverty, tyranny & social inequality. It advocates for all people's rights to a decent standard and human dignity.
Unitarianism
Unitarianism can be considered a global religion. It has a long history of establishing relations with people of other faiths and is considered a secular religion. However, Unitarianism is unique in many respects. Although Unitarianism is now a pluralistic liberal movement in English-speaking countries, its distinctiveness has been retained in continental Europe.
